Bruising in children

We all get the occasional bruise and they’re usually nothing to worry about. They are mostly the result of minor accidents, bumps or sports injuries. And during the rough and tumble of play, children are always picking up bruises.

When you knock or bump your skin, it damages underlying blood vessels. The telltale ‘black and blue’ mark is leaked blood that has collected under the skin at the site of the injury.
